At the heart of the clock is the proven mechanical Hermle calibre 0461 8-day cable-driven movement. Three weights provide the energy for the timekeeping and striking mechanisms. The grandfather clock operates entirely mechanically and requires neither batteries nor an electrical connection.

Solid Wood Case in Cherrywood Finish

The cherrywood finish gives the Hermle Charlotte its particularly warm and inviting character. Decorative burl wood inlays provide elegant accents and emphasize the high-quality craftsmanship of the solid wood case. Selected areas of the surface are polished to a high-gloss finish.

Bevelled glass and generous glazing provide a clear view of the decorative grid pendulum, three weights and mechanical components. The light-coloured dial with Roman numerals creates an elegant traditional contrast with the warm tone of the wooden case.

Mechanical Hermle Calibre 0461 8-Day Movement

The mechanical movement is powered by three weights. Approximately once a week, the weights are raised again using the winding crank. This traditional weight-driven system allows the clock to operate entirely without electrical power.

Quarter-Hour Westminster Chime on Gong Rods

The traditional quarter-hour Westminster chime plays a progressively longer part of the famous Westminster melody at each quarter hour. At the full hour, the complete melody is played, followed by the corresponding hour strike.

The hammers strike gong rods to produce the characteristic resonant sound of a traditional mechanical grandfather clock. An automatic night shut-off silences the chime and striking mechanism during the night. The chime can also be switched off completely if desired.
